NOTICE OF HEARING TO IMPOSE AND
PROVIDE FOR COLLECTION OF FIRE PROTECTION SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS

Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Bronson will conduct a public hearing to consider the imposition of annual fire protection special assessments for the provision of fire protection services within the boundaries of the Town and the collection of the fire protection assessment on the tax bill.

The hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on September 6, 2022, in the Town Council meeting room of the Dogan S. Cobb Municipal Building, 660 E. Hathaway Ave., Bronson Florida for the purpose of receiving public comment on the proposed assessments.  All affected property owners have a right to appear at the hearing and to file written objections with the Town within 20 days of this notice.  If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the Town Council with respect to any matter considered at the hearing, such person will need a record of the proceedings and may need to ensure that a verbatim record is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be made. The assessment for each parcel of property will be based upon each parcel’s classification and the total number of billing units attributed to that parcel.  The following table reflects the proposed fire protection assessment schedule.

Copies of the Master Service Assessment Ordinance, the Initial Assessment Resolution and the Assessment Roll are available for inspection at the Office of the Town Manager located at 650 Oak Street, Bronson, Florida.

The assessments will be collected on the ad valorem tax bill to be mailed in November 2022, as authorized by section 197.3632, Florida Statutes.  Failure to pay the assessments will cause a tax certificate to be issued against the property which may result in a loss of title.

NOTICE OF BUDGET WORKSHOP MEETINGS

Please be advised that the Town Council will be meeting at the Dogan S. Cobb Municipal Building on the following dates and times:

  • Monday, July 18th @ 5:00 PM
  • Monday, August 1st @ 5:00 PM
  • Monday, August 15th @ 5:00 PM
  • Monday, August 29th @ 5:00 PM

NOTICE OF HEARING TO APPLY FOR A USDA GRANT FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO NEW FIRE TRUCKS

Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Bronson will conduct a public hearing to consider applying for a USDA Grant to purchase two new fire trucks for the Bronson Fire Department for fire protection services within the boundaries of the town and the fire protection in the unincorporated fire district.

The hearing will be held at 6:00 PM or soon thereafter on Monday, August 1, 2022 in the Town Council meeting room of the Dogan S. Cobb Municipal Building, 660 East Hathaway Avenue, for the purpose of receiving public comment on the proposed purchase of two new fire trucks.  All affected property owners have the right to appear at the public hearing and to file written objections with the town within ten (10) days of this notice.  If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the Town Council with respect to any matter considered at the public hearing, such person will need a record of the proceedings and may need to ensure that a verbatim record is made including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be made.  In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, persons needing a special accommodation or an interpreter to participate in this proceeding should contact Sue Beaudet, Town Manager, via telephone at 352.486.2354 or via email at townmanager@townofbronson.org at least two business days prior to the date of the public hearing.

TOWN CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETINGS

A town charter is a legal document establishing a municipality as a town and defining how the municipality is organized, how it functions, and all related policies and procedures.  Charters are granted by a referendum passed by eligible voters.  As such, any and all changes to the charter must be voted on in the next municipal election in 2023.

The Town Charter Review Committee will be meeting at the Dogan S. Cobb Municipal Building at 660 East Hathaway Avenue on the following dates and times to discuss possible changes to the town charter:
