TOWN OF BRONSON: SECOND PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The Town of Bronson plans to apply to Florida Commerce for a FFY 2026 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the amount of $3,645,835.70, in the Neighborhood Revitalization category. For each activity that is proposed, at least 70% of the funds must benefit low- and moderate-income persons. The activities, dollar amounts and estimated percentage benefit to low- and moderate-income persons for which the Town of Bronson is applying are:

Service Area #1: School Street – Sewer Line Extension & Sewer Hookup Service Area

New Sewer Lines and Component Activity – The project in this service area involves the extension of a centralized sanitary sewer line along School Street starting at 470 School Street on the west and ending at NE 90th Avenue on the east, a distance of 1,600 linear feet. Additionally, the project will include a new lift station to be located at the NW corner of 680 School Street.

The activities, dollar amounts and estimated percentage benefit to low and moderate income persons are as follows:

Sewer Hook-up Activity – This activity involves the hook-up of twenty (20) existing single family housing units located along School Street starting at 470 School Street on the west and ending at NE 90th Avenue on the east all of which are occupied by low to moderate income residents to the central sewer system. The new central sewer hook-ups will include crushing and filling of the existing septic tank systems. The activities, dollar amounts and estimated percentage benefit to low and moderate income persons are as follows:

The Town of Bronson does not expect that anyone will be displaced as a result of CDBG funded activities. If any persons are displaced as a result of the planned activities, the Town of Bronson will assist them as describe in the Town’s anti-displacement and relocation policy, which is available for review at Town Hall.

A public hearing to provide citizens with an opportunity to comment on the application will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as possible at the Town of Bronson’s Dogan S. Cobb Municipal Building, located at 660 East Hathaway Avenue, Bronson Florida. A draft copy of the application will also be available for review during normal business hours at the City of Bronson Town Hall located at 650 Oak Street, Bronson, Florida by noon on Friday, May 15, 2026. Persons wanting to submit written comments on the application should send them to Ms. Amanda Huber, Town Manager, Town of Bronson, by e-mail at amanda@townofbronson.org or by mail to Town of Bronson, 650 Oak Street, Bronson, Florida 32621 no later than Monday, May 18, 2026.

A copy of the final application will be available for review at the Town of Bronson Town Hall, no later than Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The application will be submitted to Florida Commerce on or before May 20, 2026. The Town of Bronson plans to apply to Florida Commerce for a FFY 2026 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the amount of $1,383,204.00, in the Neighborhood Revitalization category.  For each activity that is proposed, at least 70% of the funds must benefit low- and moderate-income persons.  The activities, dollar amounts and estimated percentage benefit to low- and moderate-income persons for which the Town of Bronson is applying are:

Service Area #1:  Water Lines, Sewer Lines and Street Improvements for the new Habitat for Humanity of the Nature Coast Subdivision Service Area

Habitat for Humanity of the Nature Coast is developing a subdivision which will include 33 single family homes all of which will be occupied by low to moderate income households.  Habitat for Humanity of the Nature Coast intends to complete the subdivision within the time included in the small cities Community Development Block Grant.  The proposed location of the Habitat for Humanity subdivision is located on an approved platted 8.8 acre Habitat owned parcel located at 680 School Street which has already been subdivided into 33 buildable lots.  

The proposed improvements will make centralized potable water, wastewater infrastructure and street improvements available to the 33 sites for housing units for low-to-moderate-income households.

New Sewer Lines and Component Activity – The project involves the extension of 1,070 linear feet of centralized sewer lines to 33 homes that are to be built in the Habitat for Humanity of the Nature Coast Subdivision to be located on the parcel at 680 School Street (Parcel ID No. 0347100200).  The project will include new sewer lines, new manholes and associated valves and fittings.
